I Will Vote for Tinubu in 2027 — But Not In, Out

Today, I experienced something that reminded me of how difficult life has become for many Nigerians.

For several years, I have been using my private car for my daily movements. Like many Nigerians, I enjoyed the comfort and convenience that came with it. But recently, the cost of fuel and the general hardship in the country have made many people rethink their lifestyle and spending habits.

For the first time in a long while, I decided to leave my car at home and take a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada.

The ride itself was uneventful, but what happened after I paid the rider left me thinking deeply about the state of the country in combination with insecurity.

The rider was supposed to give me ₦100 change. Unfortunately, he did not have enough cash and ended up giving me ₦80 as part of the balance. As I looked at the money in my hand, I noticed something that genuinely surprised me.

There was a ₦10 note.

For a moment, I was shocked.

I could not remember the last time I saw a ₦10 note in circulation. In fact, I had almost forgotten that ₦10 and ₦20 notes still existed in Nigeria.

Then a question came to my mind: What exactly can ₦10 or ₦20 buy in Nigeria today?

The painful reality is that inflation has reduced the value of the naira so much that these denominations have become almost meaningless in everyday transactions. The same ₦10 and ₦20 that once had value are now barely enough to buy anything.

As I stood there holding the change, I realized that my surprise was not really about the money itself. It was about what the money represented.

It represented how much the cost of living has increased. It represented how difficult life has become for ordinary Nigerians.
It represented the painful reality that even people who once comfortably used their private cars are now being forced to cut costs and consider alternatives.

The most painful part of the experience was not the ₦80 change. It was the fact that I had to leave the comfort of my car and take a bike because of economic realities.

Millions of Nigerians are making similar adjustments every day. Families are reducing expenses. Businesses are struggling. Workers are spending a larger percentage of their income on transportation and basic necessities.

For me, the sight of that ₦10 note was more than just seeing an old denomination. It was a reminder of how much the purchasing power of the naira has fallen and how difficult life has become for many citizens.

That single bike ride told me more about the state of the economy than many official speeches and statistics.
And for that reason, I have made up my mind.

Come 2027, I will not make my vote count under the APC party.
This is my personal opinion based on my experience and my assessment of the economic hardship facing ordinary Nigerians today.
