Peter Obi Calls for Release of Nnamdi Kanu, Says There Is No Justification for Continued Detention

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again called for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, arguing that there is no reasonable justification for his continued detention.

Obi made the remarks while speaking with members of the Nigerian community in Washington, D.C., where he engaged in discussions on governance, national unity, and the rule of law.

According to him, the prolonged detention of Kanu continues to raise concerns among stakeholders who believe that political solutions and dialogue remain essential in addressing underlying grievances.

The former Anambra State governor stressed the importance of fairness, justice, and adherence to constitutional processes in handling sensitive national matters, noting that such issues require careful political and legal resolution.
